CAKE DISASTER

So I decided to make a cake today, and I tried a different recipe from my usual one, and in all honestly it didn't turn out great. I think I know what went wrong however, it was most probably the fact that I put it on the wrong shelf in the oven as well as the fact that I probably didn't mix the mixture up as well as I should have. I took some pictures anyway.

250g of butter and 250g of sugar in the bowl, oh yeah

250g of flourrrr (and some milk)

mix mix mix c:

split the mixture into three and added food colouring for a colourful sponge cake!

take awkward pictures in the microwave reflection while the cake is baking..yeah

tip and let it cool cos hot hot hot!

pour cream over and make it look disastrous

slice and enjoy! c:
keep baking + best wishes,

BOOK HAUL

I had some money that my parents kindly gave me for an early birthday present and decided to spend it on books because why not? If you know me you'd know that I only ever spend my money on three things and those are: books, posters and food. It sounds crazy but it's literally the only things I buy. (I hope some of you would agree?)

So anyway, I thought that I'd show you what books I bought.

Books I bought:

Paper Towns - John Green

An Abundance of Katherines - John Green

Divergent - Veronica Roth

 Labyrinth - Kate Mosse

The Perks of Being a Wallflower - Stephen Chbosky

City of Bones - Cassandra Clare

Also I bought some new paintbrushes, a vanilla cupcake yankee candle and a Doctor Who Annual which cost 50p (oh yes)

Anyway I'm looking forward to reading them all and maybe I'll post a book review or two if you want?

Best Wishes,

MY GIRL

If you follow me on twitter you'll know that I watched My Girl a while ago, and I loved it so much I thought that I should share it with you, and if you haven't seen it, I certainly recommend it!

The film is all that you want in a film, it focuses on children and the way they see the world, love, kindness, dealing with death and the biggest of all, friendship. It made me cry with happiness and sadness throughout and it was certainly worth the watch. My favourite quote from the film was definitely "I only surround myself with people I find intellectually stimulating." because it made me laugh a lot at the time.

An all-round cute film (image from here)
So to put it simply, I highly recommend this film especially if you like 80's/90's based films about friendship, love etc.

(Also I should be getting some non film/music related posts up soon I promise!)

Best Wishes you amazing people,

IMPROVISED DRAWING

So the other day I got pretty bored so I decided to waste time drawing, as you do. Well this time I didn't specifically draw anyone I just went with the flow of things and considering the proportions and features were kind of improvised on the spot I was quite happy with the end result.

Yay,

ARCTIC MONKEYS

If you follow my twitter or tumblr you would know how much I love Arctic Monkeys. They are one of the best bands of our generation and I honestly love them all to bits. Also lets not forget how beautiful both Alex Turner and Matt Helders are. So anyway, I thought I might as well tell you what I think about them and why I love them etc.

look at their beautiful faces awh (image from here)
Favourites

Favourite Album: It's either Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not or Favourite Worst Nightmare

Favourite Song(s): If You Were There Beware, Suck it and See, R U Mine?, Mardy Bum, Cigarette Smoker Fiona, Dancing Shoes, Pretty Visitors, Stickin' To The Floor, This is a Circus, When The Sun Goes Down.

Favourite Member: Alex Turner (although I love them all to bits)

A few years ago now I decided to listen to them after hearing about them, so I searched on Google and listened to "Fake Tales of San Francisco" and immediately I was hooked. The second song I heard of them was "I Bet You Look Good on the Dance floor" and that was the first time I saw the way they played and I actually fell in love.

Everything from the way they look and the passion they clearly have for their music is just flawless and no one can deny that Alex Turner is an amazing lyricist. There's a lot I can say about them but I might actually go on forever so I'm keeping this as short as I can.

Overall I love them so much and they are (possibly) my favourite band ever, and if you haven't listened to them properly I highly recommend you do because I'm certain you won;t regret it especially if you like indie rock music. I'm also really really really (really)  REALLY really excited for their new album which should be out in summer.

If you liked this post please let me know so I can do more in the future, yay.

Best Wishes,

NOWHERE BOY

Look look, another film! (sorry if it's getting boring, I just love talking about good films) Okay, so today I watched Nowhere Boy for about the hundredth time (i'm not even joking), which is a film based around John Lennon (one of the members of a band called The Beatles, in case you didn't know) and his struggles while he was growing up. It was a really beautiful film centred around an amazing person, who is often referred to as the greatest musician to have ever lived.
Thomas Sangster and Aaron Johnson playing Paul and John aka being amazing
Aaron Johnson played John Lennon in the film, and may I say he did a smashing job at it, not to mention his HAIR, which was perfect throughout. Thomas Sangster also starred in the film, which I thought was also pretty cool. Basically, if you haven't seen the film you should go and watch it now. Even if you don't like The Beatles or John Lennon it is still a great film and one you should watch.
Aaron Johnson looking perfect asdfghjkl

So anyway, I have a really long detailed post coming up soon which is VERY controversial, so I hope you're all looking forward to that one. It should be up in the next few days hopefully if I can get my work done in time too. Peace out,

THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER

Oh look, another film (I'm trying to drown myself in the feelings I swear oh god). But really, the films are getting better and better. I had already read the book prior to watching this film, and I can safely say I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. The acting, the music, the whole concept of the film was just amazing.
Emma Watson. Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller being perfect
So again. if you haven't seen this film yet GET OFF HERE AND GO WATCH IT NOW. If you have, you'll understand. So this film is basically about a young teenage boy dealing with the after affects of being abused by his aunt as a child, however we only find that out at the very end of the film. Charlie, who is played by Logan Lerman is basically a "wallflower" which is another way of saying 'the-boy-or-girl-who-sits-in-the-corner-at-a-party' and I think he did a great job playing Charlie. He's such a relatable character to most teenagers, and I think his role was portrayed beautifully throughout. Then, there's Emma Watson, playing Sam and Charlies best friend. She is beautiful in her own right, but playing Sam made her possibly the most beautiful person ever, inside and out. Finally, Ezra Miller, who played Patrick and the character that was able to focus on the hardships of dealing with being a gay person in high school. Again another flawless performance.
I think I can relate to Charlie the most though, and thank goodness I haven't gone through nearly as much as Charlie had in the book. I still think that his personality, the fact that he thought so deeply about everything, the fact that all the characters in the film turned to him for guidance shows just how much of a great person he was, and how much he didn't know it either. Everything about this film was just perfect, you could go from laughing to crying in a matter of seconds, and even the small details in the film made it ever so special. For example, just look at their bedrooms, the posters, fairy lights, even the mere typewriter, it was so simple and beautiful I JUST CAN'T.
Now now, the MUSIC in the film was exceptional. The fact that The Smiths were mentioned, and they were Charlie's favourite band, WHY SO PERFECT?! The "tunnel song" was also David Bowie - Heroes, and like Charlie, Sam and Patrick I felt infinite while watching them in the tunnel and that song playing in the background. I will also be buying the movie soundtrack simply because the music was perfect.
Simply, p e r f e c t.

(500) DAYS OF SUMMER

So I just watched (500) days of summer for the fourth time, and let me just say that it's as good as watching it the first time, if not better, and I wanted to talk about it just because my blog seems like a safe enough place to pour all my feelings out onto. Let me just say that if you haven't seen this film then WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? It is actually one of my favourite films of all time, and if you haven't seen it, then I want you to pop down to blockbusters, or log onto lovefilm.com and watch this film. (also this post contains spoilers, so do watch the film before carrying on please)

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel being perfect as per usual

So if you have already seen this film, then I don't really need to explain what it is about, however if you haven't and are still reading on *tut tut* then let me give you a quick overview without giving anything away. Tom is a young man who works in an office as someone who designs and writes greeting cards for people. Summer is the new girl in the offcie working as Tom's bosses assisstant. Throughout the film we see how Tom and Summers relationship progresses and eventually falls apart. But, (quoted from the film) "this is not a love story" and I suppose in some ways that is true.
Let me just take a step back without looking too analytical and look at the casting, which mind you, was amazing. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is certainly a very beautiful man, and Zooey Deschanel, an equally beautiful woman. I highly salute the person who put these two beautiful people together. Both of them played their characters amazingly and throughout the film I was just aching at how perfect they were together. Also, their actual characters, Tom and Summer were also beautiful, particularly Tom and his love for architecture. Both of them also loved music, and the amount of The Smiths and The Beatles references were the cutest. Hello, who doesn't like Ringo and Octopus' Garden? Okay, so basically this was just a flawless film and very RELEVANT. It showed that love doesn't always go perfectly, but it does work out in the end, one way or the other. Also, lets face it, the expectations vs reality scene was bloody brilliant.
Take me here and i'll marry you okay?
The only thing I could fault with this film is that we never got to see WHO Summer marries in the end, but I guess that was the whole point of the film, to leave us wondering who and what caused everything to go so perfectly wrong between Tom and Summer.
So i've been watching about one film a day for the past few days and will be doing so for a while (I even have a list go me) so hopefully I can talk more about the great films I'm watching! If I don't, then i'll blame my upcoming GCSE exams okay bye x

WHY DID I MAKE THIS BLOG?

So this is my first post on my new blog and I thought I might as well explain to you why I made this blog in the first place. okay, so about two years ago now I discovered some online blogs and I immediately got addicted to quite a few of them. I really enjoyed looking at all their pictures and checking to see if they had any more posts coming up. I would usually check them all on a daily basis because I was fascinated by other people lives, views and general interests. Then about a year ago I decided to create my own blog. My sister was the main influence on me and how I designed that blog, however about two months ago I realised that the blog wasn't really how I wanted it to look/feel like. That could have simply been because I felt like I needed to alter my topics to suit my reader or simply that I had changed as a person. I felt like it wasn't as personal as I wanted it to be so I decided to get rid of that blog entirely and start afresh. So here I am today, ready to start this whole blogging thing again. I also realised that the reason people read my previous blog was because how I was naturally, and I knew that to have kept those followers engaged I should have kept to my original ideas instead of changing to suit the 'audience'. that's why I wanted to make this blog as a way of starting this again, because I REALLY enjoyed blogging and I wanted to carry this whole thing on for as long as people would read it (:

So that's the main reason why I created this blog, and since this is the first post, I wanted to tell you all a bit about what you might expect, and then you can decide whether it is your kind of thing or not. My blog will probably include:

Film and Book reviews.
The odd craft/cooking project.
A few controversial topics because why not?
Random life posts and photograph posts just to make it a bit more personal.
Music posts.
The odd review for things I have bought or liked.
Some short stories I write and might like to share.
General tips and advice because I like helping people out!
LISTS of things.

So that's just a bit of what you might expect in this blog, I hope you'll stick around and keep reading! c:
